Back to School

Thursday, August 30th, 2007

For those of you who have not been to our home, Allen and I live right next to Renfroe Middle School. I decided it might be nice to do some volunteer work with their photography club, so I sent an email through to Kim Boswell who is the teacher in charge. She seemed thrilled with my offer and invited me to join the kids on a field trip.

They are taking pictures throughout the year for the theme “Evolution of a City” which documents how Atlanta has grown and changed over the years. We took MARTA to Little 5 Points and walked around the area taking photos for a few hours. I had a wonderful time, and I look forward to working with them this year!

Busy little bee

Friday, August 10th, 2007

I know, I know. Where are the updates? What have I been doing? Well…. working! I’ve actually been quite busy fulfilling print orders from my “Christmas in July” sale and actually taking more pictures, that I’ve been a bit slow in getting them posted on the blog.

Julia and John got married. Catherine and Alejandro got married. I had a booth at the Bridal Show (which was awesome, by the way). I also met with some wedding coordinators, current brides & grooms, prospective brides & grooms, other vendors, assistants, etc etc.

The good news is, I’ve finally got all the prints done and shipped and all the wedding proofs posted on the proofing site. The bad news is that you’ll have to wait another week before you can see the images from the last two weddings on the blog. Allen and I are off this weekend to Pennsylvania to spend a week with his parents. So stay tuned, my fretful readers, and I promise you lots of pictures from weddings and Amish country when we return!

And one more thing… congrats to Trey and Amy who are officially engaged as of today!

Jekyll Island

Wednesday, August 1st, 2007

Last week, my friend Lily McClellan invited me to join her for a short mid-week trip to Jekyll Island. Her family has been staying there every summer for the last 30-odd years, and it sounded like such a charming place I couldn’t say no!

Jekyll Island is about 4.5 hours from Atlanta and well worth the drive. We stayed just a few days, but I hadn’t realized how stressed I had been until I actually got there and relaxed for a bit. We took a boat tour to see the dolphins, visited the Jekyll Island Club Hotel (where Lily was married last year), flew kites on the beach, bicycled around the island, and drank mint juleps. I can see why her family does this every year!

I purposely did not take my camera gear with me, but I did manage to sneak a few shots with my husband’s little point and shoot. These are a few of my faves…
