Wedding Photographer Pricing

I’ve been chatting with some of my fellow photographer colleagues about whether or not we should post our pricing online. I can see it from two perspectives:

1. As a bride, if I find a photographer online that I really like, I want to know the pricing immediately so I can determine if he/she is within my budget.

2. As a photographer, I want to know if brides are even viewing my website and interested enough to request pricing.

As I know some of my past (and hopefully future) clients read my blog, I thought we’d post a little poll to get your thoughts! You’ll find it on the right side of the screen in the sidebar.

I can understand this in a way - I like seeing the comments on my blog just to know people read it. Hits on a stats page doesn’t really tell you too much.

In our experience, we found photographers who’s photos we liked and then the next thing we looked at was pricing information on their sites. There is a wide range in this area, and that helped us know not only their range, but the kinds of packages they offered and if they are flexible in their services. The situation with you was a little different, in that we met you through the bridal fair and got to talk to you face-to-face. As a bride, I’d recommend putting a sample price sheet on your site, but put a note in there that it could vary or be flexible, if that’s the case.
